I tasted authentic matcha for the first time when I was 17 years old on holiday in Japan. My dad was living and working in Tokyo at the time so I had the opportunity to experience Japanese lifestyle a couple times a year - I loved it!

I vividly remember being in a bamboo forrest visiting some rural Buddhist temples, when I was poured this bowl of frothy green tea as part of a traditional tea ceremony. It was vibrant, fragrant, frothy and DELICIOUS. I also enjoyed the smooth caffeine high afterwards...

This is when I became a tea enthusiast.

So when I found a supplier of ceremonial grade Japanese matcha green tea, I couldn't help but become a stockist and share it with my Yoni Queens! You can get yours here.

The quality and health benefits are endless. From boosting metabolism to promoting mental clarity, ceremonial grade matcha offers a plethora of advantages that make it a cherished beverage choice.

Let's delve deeper into the unique benefits that this green elixir brings to the table.

1. Matcha is Rich in Antioxidants

Ceremonial grade matcha is renowned for its high concentration of antioxidants, particularly catechins, notably epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). These potent antioxidants help combat oxidative stress, neutralize free radicals, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Regular consumption of matcha green tea can contribute significantly to overall health and longevity.

2. Matcha Enhances Mental Focus

Unlike coffee, matcha contains a balanced combination of caffeine and L-theanine, an amino acid known for its calming effects. This unique synergy promotes a state of relaxed alertness, heightening concentration and cognitive function without the jitters or energy crashes commonly associated with coffee consumption. A cup of ceremonial grade matcha can provide sustained mental clarity and focus throughout the day.

3. Matcha Boosts Metabolism

Matcha green tea is recognized for its thermogenic properties, which stimulate the body's metabolism and enhance fat oxidation. Studies have shown that the catechins in matcha can increase calorie expenditure and improve fat burning during both rest and exercise. Incorporating ceremonial grade matcha into a balanced diet and active lifestyle may support weight management goals effectively, if that's what you're seeking support in.

4. Matcha Supports Detoxification & Immune Function

The vibrant green hue of ceremonial grade matcha signifies its rich chlorophyll content, a natural detoxifier that helps eliminate toxins and heavy metals from the body. Additionally, matcha possesses antibacterial and antiviral properties, bolstering the immune system's defenses against infections and illnesses. By regularly consuming matcha, individuals can promote detoxification and strengthen their immunity to maintain optimal health.

5. Matcha Calms the Mind & Reduces Stress

The L-theanine present in matcha not only promotes mental alertness but also induces a sense of relaxation and calmness. By modulating neurotransmitter activity in the brain, L-theanine helps alleviate stress and anxiety, promoting a state of overall well-being and tranquility. Incorporating ceremonial grade matcha into one's daily routine can serve as a soothing ritual to unwind and destress amidst the demands of modern life.

How to Make a Frothy Matcha Latte

Whether enjoyed as part of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony or incorporated into your daily life as a morning beverage, ceremonial grade matcha is a beautiful ritual to experience.

Traditionally, Japanese prepare Matcha with 176F (80C) temperature water. For a softer, mellower flavor, use lower temperature water: 158F (70C). To intensify the depth of flavor, you can increase the quantity of tea leaves or Matcha.

However if you're wanting a more sweet, indulgent flavour here's what I recommend:

1. Begin by sifting one to two teaspoons of matcha powder into a bowl to ensure a smooth and lump-free consistency.

2. Heat your favorite nut milk, such as almond, coconut, or oat milk, until warm but not boiling. Froth the milk using a handheld frother or whisk until it reaches a creamy texture.

3. Next, pour a small amount of hot water into the bowl of matcha powder and whisk vigorously in a gentle zigzag motion until a smooth, vibrant green paste forms.

4. Gradually add the frothed nut milk while continuing to whisk, adjusting the ratio to your desired taste and consistency. For a touch of sweetness, drizzle in honey or maple syrup and whisk until well combined.

5. Once your matcha latte is perfectly blended, pour it into a mug or traditional matcha bowl, admiring its brilliant green hue and creamy froth.

6. Take a moment to savor the earthy aroma and velvety texture before indulging in its rich, nuanced flavor profile. With each sip, feel yourself enveloped in a sense of warmth and tranquility, as the harmonious combination of matcha, frothed nut milk, and honey delights your senses and nourishes your soul.

Enjoy a smoother caffeine experience

Whether enjoyed as a morning ritual to kickstart your day or as a cozy afternoon pick-me-up, this decadent matcha latte offers a blissful moment of self-care and indulgence. Embrace the art of matcha preparation and customization, infusing each cup with your personal preferences and intentions. With frothed nut milk and honey, ceremonial grade matcha transcends its traditional roots, becoming a comforting and soul-nourishing elixir for modern enthusiasts seeking balance and harmony in every sip.
